"CURRENT AND FUTURE BMW MODELS HAVE EVEN MORE AUTOMATED-FEATURES FOR IMPROVED CONTROL, ENHANCED SAFETY AND GREATER DRIVING PLEASURE"
Over the past 100 years, BMW has been setting the benchmark in terms of automotive innovations. The sixth-generation BMW 7 Series has proven this yet again, with breath taking new technology that includes gesture control for the iDrive system, Remote Control Parking via the BMW Display Key and a 7-inch tablet integrated into the rear armrest. Said tablet not only controls communications and infotainment, but cabin functions such as lighting, too.
The latest 7 Series also features Traffic Jam Assistant, which takes over the burden of driving in heavy traffic. When activated, it maintains a set distance from the vehicle in front and brakes the 7 Series to a complete standstill without any input from the driver. As with all great leaders, BMW continues to push boundaries. The carmaker recently showcased the BMW i Vision Future Interaction, which gave us a glimpse of what we can expect in the near future.
SUPERB VISUALS
As seen in the BMW i Vision Future Interaction (based on the BMW i8 Concept Spyder), it includes a head-up display, three-dimensional instrument cluster and a 21 inches panorama display extending
from the dashboard center to the front passenger seat.
ALWAYS CONNECTED
The BMW i Vision Future Interaction will ensure that the driver remains connected to his work and social networks via the Open Mobility Cloud or BMW Connected App. If the car is being driven
autonomously, drivers will even be able to conduct video calls and check their email on the way.
ENHANCED CONTROLS
Apart from touch and voice controls, BMW’s i Vision Future Interaction offers AirTouch,
which further improves gesture control by also recognising depth movements. This allows users to operate the panorama display as a touchscreen without actually touching it.
SIMPLIFIED DRIVE MODES
BMW models of the future will only have three drive modes – Pure Drive, Assist and Auto Mode. Pure Drive gives full control to the driver, Assist tells the various assistance systems to actively
intervene, while Auto leaves the driving to the car.
