Peugeot announces this morning the arrival of Sebastien Loeb in its team for the Dakar 2016. The Alsatian driver and will debut in rally alongside Carlos Sainz, Peterhansel and Cyril Despres.
Thus, the dream team of Peugeot is expanding a new driver for this renowned rally second season, always with Peterhansel, Sainz and Cyril Despres. And no doubt that after the disappointments of last year, the Peugeot 2008 DKR will be better equipped this year to face the hell of the dunes.
Of course, the Dakar 2016 will not be a baptism of fire for Sébastien Loeb in rally raid, as it will soon be able to make his weapons at the Morocco Rally, which will take place between 3 and 9 October. This episode will mark the beginning of the Alsatian in the discipline, in addition to reunion with Carlos Sainz which he was teammate at Citroen in 2003 and 2004.
Sébastien Loeb is one of the very few racing drivers who has successfully competed in very different disciplines in recent years. Besides breaking most records in the WRC, the Frenchman has won the Pikes Peak hillclimb with Peugeot and currently ranks third in the 2015 World Touring Car Championship with Citroën.
Loeb has already tested Peugeot’s Dakar challenger in Morocco earlier this year. In the Rallye du Maroc, Sainz will drive the latest Peugeot 2008 DKR16 whereas Loeb will drive a 2015-specification car.
